As the cryptocurrency market matures, CoinMarketCap sought to professionalize its image and better reflect its position as a leading financial hub, while still retaining the rebellious spirit of crypto culture. The visual identity Nessen Company created for them looks toward traditional financial publications and the photo illustrations they often leverage. Incorporating complex technical elements, traditional halftone patterns, and adapting easily to diverse subject matter from J. Powell to Pepe, these photo illustrations balance sophistication and playfulness. Nessen Company developed an extensive and easy-to-use templating system for producing illustrations and other assets at scale. The brand’s type system was refined for a more distinguished look and the color palette was further developed to deepen the brand’s use of blue, offering just the right amount of variation to keep things interesting.
